Deer crossing

When Jen and I were heading to church on Sunday morning, we decided to take the newly paved back road off Old Dallas Hwy to JJ Flewellen Rd. It's an alternate route to church but was all rocks and potholes in the past. Much to our surprise, a deer leaped on to the dark gray pavement in front of us, seemingly focused on where he was going rather than the destination of his possible demise.

Jen was driving, so I had the opportunity to let my eyes follow his journey into the field. In sheer amazement, I told Jen, "Look, there's almost a dozen more! He must have been running to catch up with the rest of them." Jen, keeping her eyes on the road and trusting my commentary for what it was worth said, "Wow! Man, one thing you never want to do is hit a deer with in the road. You will wish you never did and that will be the end of your car. I can only assume some of them will now lose their lives because they didn't ask for the road to be paved."

If they didn't have white cottony tails and snow tipped ears, it would have been hard to spot all of them because they blended quite well in to the late fall/wintery brown hued scenery of the field. I of course wish I had my camera because I wanted to capture that beautiful sight. Like us, there will be many who will speed down this nicely paved, yet quiet road. I pray their safety and hope we ourselves are careful and they (the deer) are careful as well.

To Flame or Not To Flame??

I just posted a reply to an online friend's post about being flamed. I wanted to keep up with what I said to her so I can remember my own wise counsel. Here it is:

Concerning being flamed on line...Before you read what I had to say find out what is Flaming anyway????

I told her...
I always say, "Bad ain't always bad." See when trials, troubles and tribulations come our way, they only come to make us strong. They come to challenge our beliefs and convictions. In your case, this has come to sharpen your character and give you an awesome opportunity to apply some of that good learning you're getting in law school. So, as the good book says, "Count it all joy!" Besides, had this not come up, you wouldn't have had the opportunity to "teach" and correct so many of us who are ignorant of copyright laws.

One last thing... Speaking for myself, I'm too busy to reply to EVERYONE'S posts to my 5+ blogs and six+ yahoo groups I belong to, my website guestbook and regular and emails... If anyone is offended that I don't blog back quick, fast, and in a hurry or at all, then I guess I may have lost a lot of friends along the way. I guess I'll learn to get over that sooner or later.

We are all busy and it is a privilege to be able to share on line with people whom we may never meet. These days lurking is norm so I don't trip and others ought not either. We all need to check our motives when it comes to online blogging. Just because I don't reply to comments on my blogs doesn't mean they aren't being read or that I don't care. I keep that in mind when folks don't reply to my comments on their blogs. Why are we being so sensitive???

I blog because I am a writer, photographer, speaker and soon to be published author. As of now, I am the PR person for "Maryee". I use the internet to get the word out about me, until I can pay someone else to market me. ha! I practice my gifts, talents and skills and along the way meet some really neat people on line. Also along the way, I anticipate I will make friends as well as enemies. That’s called LIFE. Ask any celebrity or public figure. But it is still praiseworthy!

So for those of us brave or crazy souls who want to expose ourselves on line, keep doing what cha doing. It builds character, tenacity and perseverance. As long as we are living we are learning. Count this as a good ole’ learning experience.

This by no means is the exhaustive list of my online communities, blogs, and websites I am affiliated with but it is an example to show folks that while some millions of people may be sitting in front of the boob tube sucking in what someone else has created, there are other millions of folks like me who are creating something to produce rather than paying to consume.

What advanced Degree should I get?

Brunsli took the blogthing and I decided to also. Here's what I came up with:

You Should Get a MFA (Masters of Fine Arts)

You're a blooming artistic talent, even if you aren't quite convinced.
You'd make an incredible artist, photographer, or film maker.

Trouble

Trouble is not your friend. It's a two-faced back stabbing son of a gun!! Why do so many of us flirt with trouble when after it's enticed us to do a dirty deed, it leaves us with the bag EVERYTIME to suffer the consequences. Trouble. Baaah Humbug!
